Unsolicited reviews received for Valerie's Orchard.

" I am the daughter of Henry Newman who you met last night at the premiere of Valerie's Orchard.
I felt I had to write to you on behalf of my mother who, as you know, was a survivor from the Holocaust. Even though my father was a fellow survivor, we were brought up very much in the dark regarding their experiences. My mum and I just wanted to say how amazing the whole experience of last night was and to thank you so very much for all you have achieved.

People don’t realise the importance of families and my brother and sister together myself did not have the luxury of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. The only person to survive was my mum’s father, after hiding in the forest for two years with my mum, but he passed away before we were born.

Many many thanks again it was an experience never to be forgotten by both mum and I."
Andrea Newman, Manchester, England.

" You may have seen our coverage on the 700 Club about Israel's Holocaust Remembrance Day. As we said in the story, one of the aims of "Yad VaShem," Israel's Holocaust Museum, is to make the Holocaust personal.

It's daunting to imagine six million people dying. But when you look at one person who was a mother, an aunt, a brother, a sister or a neighbour, the Holocaust becomes much more real.

One filmmaker who's succeeded in making the Holocaust both personal and real is Nick Breakspear. He's produced a compelling film called 'Valerie's Orchard'.
Valerie's Orchard is a story about an 86-year-old Hungarian lady living in Jerusalem named Valerie. She's a painter, a delightful lady, and a Holocaust survivor.

Valerie survived Auschwitz Birkenau, one of the most brutal death camps in Germany and its infamous Death March. She not only survived where few people did, but now tells her unique story in large part through her art.

For me, the highlight of the film is listening to Valerie tell her amazing story. To remain so sweet and delightful after having been plunged into the abyss of the Holocaust is remarkable. "

" Many thanks again, I just wanted to say thank you so so much for making the film. Both myself and my friend Beth were so moved by your story and that of Valerie's.
We had a wonderful evening. I think you are an incredible individual. "

"Wow.  What an amazing evening.  Nick brought everything that is Breakspear and more.  I was very moved by the documentary feel of the film.
It paints a picture of the struggles of the Holocaust experienced by so many.

Valerie's story is one that needs to be told.  As a Christian who stands with Israel and the Jewish nation, you need to see this film.  I believe this film is extremely effective."
